Good day, Nigeria, welcome to Naija News roundup of top JAMB news headlines for today Saturday, March 21, 2020.
Below is a roundup of top stories on the 2020 UTME examination and result…
JAMB has clarified the issues surrounding the change in exam dates for candidates writing the 2020 UTME.
The board in a statement on Thursday by its head of media and information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin noted that not all students are affected by the change of dates as been rumoured in certain quarters.
According to him, JAMB has adjusted the dates of the completion of the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination, saying the exercise would end “in the early days of next week” as against Saturday, April 4, on the schedule.
He, however, noted that only a few candidates in Bayelsa and Rivers State have their exams rescheduled and such candidates have been contacted to reprint their slips.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday released the Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME) results of candidates who took the exam nationwide on Tuesday.
Naija News reports that this was revealed by the board’s Head of Public Affairs, Dr Fabian Benjamin.
Jamb also revealed that fraudsters were extorting money from the candidates to access the results.
JAMB has provided additional information on how candidates can check their 2020 UTME results.
This follows complaints by some candidates that they are unable to check their results via the JAMB result checker portal.
Explaining why such candidates are unable to access their results, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB Head, Media and Information narrated that the board had to shut down the portal following an attempt by some fraudsters to alter results of candidates.
He, therefore, directed candidates who wrote the exam on Monday to check the result through text messages on their phone.
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied cancelling results of candidates that sat for the 2020 UTME on Saturday, March 14 and Monday, March 16.
The board made the clarification in reaction to rumours in certain quarters that it has cancelled the results of some candidates.
JAMB’s head of Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin made the denial on Wednesday in Lagos during an interview with NAN.
He described the rumours as wicked, malicious and misleading noting that it is the handiwork of fraudsters.
