Atletico Madrid defeated Barcelona 3-2 in the semi-final of the revamped Spanish Super Cup on Thursday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Completesports.com reports.
The game which was played inside the King Abdullah Sports City, saw Atletico Madrid opened scoring in the 46th minute of the first half by Koke.

Barcelona were back on level terms thanks skipper Lionel Messi in the 51st minute.
Messi got on the score sheet to put Barcelona ahead on 59 minutes, but his effort was disallowed after consultation with VAR.
Former Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann eventually gave Barcelona the lead in the 62nd minute.
For the second time in the game, Barcelona saw their goal disallowed by VAR, after Gerard Pique scored.
With nine minutes left, Atletico Madrid equalised thanks to former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.
And in the 86th minute, Angel Correa scored the winner to send his side into the final.
Thursday’s win means Atletico Madrid will now meet city rivals Real Madrid in the final on Sunday January 12.
In Wednesday’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final also played inside the King Abdullah Sports City, Real Madrid beat Valencia 3-1.
