Every boxing fan is looking forward to what might just be the fight of the decade: the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. With only a few months to go, Joshua is still ruminating on their first fight, which saw him lose his world titles.
Sky Sports recently sat down with Joshua to talk about his career and the conspiracy theories that have trailed his defeat. The interview, AJ: The Untold Truth, sees the former heavyweight champion bring out his most brutally honest side.
Although he admits that he wasn’t boxing properly during the fight, he still doesn’t see Ruiz as a particularly skilful boxer. In fact, he’s quoted as saying in the interview that Ruiz defeated him due to “a lucky punch” that was “sent by the gods.”
You will recall that Joshua totally owned round three during their fight in New York. Now, the British-Nigerian believes that he must repeat whatever he did in that round during their upcoming rematch in Saudi Arabia. In his own words:
“Do what I did in round three, but with more silky skill. And that was easy to put him down. So I need to be smarter, next time.”
AJ: The Untold Truth will air on Sky Sports this Saturday. You can watch a snippet here.
