On Wednesday, we got the news that Everton was seriously working towards signing Alex Iwobi before the transfer deadline. Well, despite how busy the transfer window was yesterday, the club beat the deadline, and he’s now set to join them on a five-year deal.

First, Everton made a £30 million bid for Iwobi. Although Arsenal rejected the bid, it was clear The Toffees were serious, and they certainly had to be if they cared about their midfield position ahead of the start of the new season.
Now, the club has confirmed that Iwobi has been signed for an “undisclosed fee”. Well, given Arsenal’s initial rejection, experts believe that “undisclosed fee” is between £35 million and £40 million, smashing Kelechi Iheanacho’s record as the most expensive Nigerian footballer.
The Gunners are already saying their goodbyes to the 23-year-old who has been with them since he was eight. With 15 goals in 149 games for Arsenal, we expect that Iwobi will be nothing short of fantastic at Everton.
“Alex has made a big contribution at Arsenal. He worked hard in the academy, where he was an example to many young players and has been an important part of our squad. We wish Alex every success in the future.” – Unai Emery
All the best at @Everton, @alexiwobi
