The Premier League transfer window is set to close tomorrow at 5 pm. Like we’ve seen in the past, the countdown to the deadline is coming with its dose of surprises, the latest being that Everton is making a serious move for Alex Iwobi.

Multiple reports following the transfer deadline day indicate that the club placed a £30 million (over N13 billion) bid for the midfielder, but Arsenal rejected it. The sudden interest in Iwobi follows Everton’s failure to sign Ivorian, Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace.

Although Iwobi’s contract with Arsenal demands that he stays with the club until 2022, experts believe that the Gunners could shift grounds if Everton should up their bid to, say, £40 million (0ver N17 billion). And with the club’s need to bolster its midfield, they just might.

If the deal happens to pull through by the transfer window deadline tomorrow, then Iwobi will become the most expensive Nigerian player to date, toppling Kelechi Iheanacho, who joined Leicester City for a record-breaking £25 million (over N11 billion).
