What A Win In Anthony Joshua's Upcoming Fight Would Mean For His Career

We’re super pumped for the fight between Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller. Granted, this isn’t the fight that’ll decide if the British-Nigerian becomes the undisputed world heavyweight champion – nor will it earn him a new belt – but the tickets are selling like hot cake.

While Joshua is putting finishing touches to his style for that day, there are two things we’re damn sure winning the fight will do for his stellar career.

Joshua started his boxing exploits in the UK. He became the unified world heavyweight champion by winning his IBF, WBA and WBO belts in the same country. This has generated criticisms from people who believe that he only became this big because he hasn’t fought professionally anywhere else.

A win in Madison Square Garden in New York – which Miller claims is “his backyard” – will go a long way in proving the critics wrong. And there’s no doubt Joshua is prepared to own every round of the fight, seeing as boxing isn’t so much about territory as it is about style and tactics.

In addition, Joshua’s number one dream now (and one of the main reasons he’ll be fighting Miller) is to get a shot at the WBC belt, which Deontay Wilder currently holds. That belt, when added to the three he currently holds, will make Joshua the undisputed world heavyweight champion.

So, a fight with Miller won’t only prepare him mentally and physically for a date with Wilder, but it’ll also give his team a stronger footing as they seek to bring Wilder to the table. What remains now is for Wilder to win his rematch against Tyson Fury.

Once that happens and Joshua puts Miller out of the way, Wilder won’t have any more excuses.
