Given that Niniola is one of Nigeria‘s most consistent artists, it makes sense that she’s slowly gaining international recognition. Earlier in the year, she and Drake struck up an Instagram rapport, and now, she’s revealed that a collab with Timbaland might be in the works.
Thanks to the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage, afropop is more recognised than ever before. While that attention has led to a lot more Nigerian-international collaborations, Niniola hasn’t gotten one yet. So, we think it’s about time she did.
We already know that Timbaland has been working with Nigerian artists, such as Burna Boy and Davido, therefore a collab with Niniola makes a lot of sense. In addition, they both have very hit-friendly sounds, so whatever they create will definitely be straight fire.
Speaking about possibly working with Timbaland in an interview with Okay Africa, Niniola explained her Instagram exchange with the legendary producer. After commenting on her photo, Timbaland told Niniola that he would love to work together sometime.
Explaining how she felt about it, she said:
“It meant a lot to me, because when you see legends like that who have achieved so much appreciating your music, what else can you do but be grateful?”
Well, hopefully, we’ll get this soon, and Niniola’s fantastic music will be given an even higher leg up, exposing her to a much wider audience. Her sound is eclectic enough to appeal to any listener, and we’re super excited to be witnessing this growth spurt in her career.
