Atlético de Madrid has reached an agreement with Héctor Herrera for the Mexican who is to sign a three-year contract.
The midfielder has great experience in European football. Born in Rosarito (Mexico), Herrera began his career at Pachuca’s youth teams. In 2010, at age 21, he made his debut with the Mexican side’s first team, where he began to shine.
At 22, he won the Toulon Tournament with the Mexico U23 team and was named Best Player.
Shortly thereafter, he won the gold medal with his country at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
A year later, he moved to FC Porto, where he became one of the Portuguese side’s leaders. During his six seasons in Portugal, Herrera won one league title and two Super Cups.
