Nigeria’s D’Tigers suffered their second loss at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers in Abidjan to the “Lions of Teranga” of Senegal as the games came to a close on Sunday, reports Completesports.com.
Alex Nwora’s side lost 84-62 to the Senegal at at the Palaise des Sports arena on Sunday.
The 2017 Afrobasket finalist had earlier lost 76-42 to Cote d’Ivoire on Friday, but bounced back with 72-59 win over the Central African Republic on Saturday.
D’Tigers lost the first quarter 27-19 but fought back to win the second quarter 13-15. In the third quarter, Senegal managed to stay atop with ten points with the score at 63-53 winning the 23-19.
In the fourth quarter, Nwora’s side lost 24-10.
Ikenna Iroegbu was the D’Tigers’ top performer in the defeat posting 28 points, six rebounds and six assists while Ike Diogu scored ten points and seven rebounds.
Despite the defeat, the D’Tigers finished top of Group F after amassing ten wins with 22 points from 12 games.
