Former Nigerian international, Friday Ekpo has admonished the interim coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George to utilise every opportunity given to him to build a solid team capable of withstanding any opponent.
Ekpo made this known on the backdrop of Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Ghana in an international friendly game played on Friday in Morocco.
The game was Finidi’s first match as a coach of the senior national team after the departure of Jose Peseiro.

In a chat with Completesports.com, Ekpo urged Finidi to build a solid structure that will last for a very long time.
“First and foremost, I want to say congratulation to the Super Eagles for their victory against Ghana in yesterday’s friendly game. Secondly, Finidi has been a coach with Enyimba and he knows what he wants when it comes to handling a team that plays week in and week out. With this experience , I think he will be keen to make a name for himself.
“By what he did against Ghana, I think he will try to build upon it. I also want to believe that Finidi was given a free hand to select his players and that’s what we want for our coaches.
“I want to believe Finidi understands the Nigerian language in football, which is victory because that is what always bring us together as a country regardless of anything.
“He must also build a structure that can last for five to ten years before that structure can be dismantled. The last one has taken a longer time and we have not be able to build from it. And now that the mantle has falling on him, he should build on it and take opportunity of what was lacking from the other coaches and a solid team for Nigeria.”
