James Sule takes over as Permanent Secretary, Art, Culture, Creative Economy

Mr James Sule has officially assumed office as the new Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy. This was contained in a statement signed by Nneka Ikem Anibeze, SA Media and Publicity.

Welcoming the Permanent Secretary, the Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa stated that the Ministry was created on August 21st, 2023 vide Presidential pronouncement, to provide an enabling environment for the exposure of positive talents of the nation’s Art and Culture and to harness the potentials of Nigeria’s creative industry.

“I warmly welcome you to the Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy.

“The Ministry is saddled with the responsibility of providing overall political leadership and guidance for the attainment of goals and objectives of the ministry. We also provide oversight in the formulation and implementation of policies necessary for the realization of mandates of the Ministry.

“The Ministry also provides oversight for various Art and Culture related programs and activities. We have eleven agencies under this Ministry namely; the National Council of Arts and Culture, Nigerian Film Corporation, National Theatre, National Films and Censors Board, Centre for Black and African Arts and Culture and General National War Museum. Others are the National Gallery of Art, National Institute of Archeology and Museums Studies, National Troupe of Nigeria, National Institute for Cultural Orientation and National Commission for Museums and Monuments.

“We are happy to have you as the Permanent Secretary to help steer the administration of this ministry according to the Civil Service rules and and we are grateful that you are in a position to advise us accordingly”.

The Permanent Secretary, Mr James Sule thanked the Minister for her warm reception and praised her for her giant strides in trying to put the country on the world map of art, culture and entertainment.

He solicited the cooperation of all staff in achieving the ministry’s mandate.

“I know that you have hit the ground running with the blue print that will make Nigeria a creative, cultural and entertainment capital and hub of the world. I am aware of the efforts you are making, including your eight-point agenda tagged ‘Destination 2030’. I have watched your video and I am impressed.

“I want to assure you that the we are ever ready to make ourselves available to the political head in accordance with the civil service and I promise to provide the necessary support needed towards the realisation of the mandate of this Ministry”.

Mr Sule takes over from Dr Ngozi Onwudiwe who is now with the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

He was redeployed from the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation before coming to the Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy.
