Football fans will agree that there are few things more satisfying than watching a match in the company of others — hence the appeal of viewing centres. That’s why the Lagos State government has reportedly put plans in place to open viewing centres for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

According to The Nation, the government wants to use the viewing centres to promote community engagement amongst Lagos residents. The initiative, tagged “Lagos Issa Goal”, will be handled by the Sports Commission in partnership with Slimburg Limited.

This is really good news because, as we all know, power supply in Nigeria is still woefully inadequate. On top of that, the country’s television network, the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), can’t really be trusted to deliver quality coverage.

So, instead of missing crucial moments at the upcoming 2019 AFCON due to power failure, fans can take advantage of these viewing centres, which will reportedly be available at Epe Recreation Centre, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Campos Mini The stadium, and more.

The 2019 AFCON officially kicks off tomorrow!
