Nigerian journalist, David Hundeyin Released After Being Detained In Zimbabwe

Taking to his Twitter page on Wednesday night, July 19, David Hundeyin revealed that he was detained in Zimbabwe over claims that he needed a visa to be in the country.

The journalist explained that he used the travel document of a country with a visa-free relationship but was still required to have a visa due to his Nigerian nationality.

Hundeyin revealed that he and a Ugandan lady with a similar visa-free status, were locked in a windowless, unsanitary room and received no communication for more than seven hours.

In his last tweet, the journalist said he was finally allowed to use the restroom and assured he could catch his exit flight, but the situation remains uncertain for the Ugandan lady.

Sharing an update on Thursday morning, David Hundeyin revealed that he had safely landed at his destination without any harm or injuries.

He revealed that his phone’s battery was running low but promised to update everyone once he reached his secondary destination.

The journalist also expressed gratitude for the immense pressure and support he received during the journey.

He wrote, “Landed. Safe and well. I was untouched and unharmed. Battery is nearly dead. Will update when I reach my secondary destination. Thanks for the immense pressure and support🙏🏿”.

KanyiDaily recalls that David Hundeyin is a staunch critic of President Bola Tinubu who he linked with criminal organizations, street gangs, drug cartels, and mafia all around the world.
