President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday in Abuja announced the appointment of the Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, and Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff.

In a meeting with Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

A Presidency statement issued by Director of Information, Abiodun Oladunjoye, confirmed the appointments.

The Guardian had exclusively reported last Tuesday that Akume and Gbajabiamila were the preferred choices of the president for the two positions.

Meanwhile, the Liberation Forum for Good Governance (LFGG) a support group of Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Shettima under APC Amagamated Registered Support Groups headed by Augustine Onah has congratulated Akume over his appointment as SGF.

Onah, who described the SGF appointment as well deserved, said the former Minister of Special Duty was no doubt a round peg in a round hole.

The group expressed optimism that the former Benue governor’s antecedents as a seasoned administrator and leader would come to play in the discharge of his duty.

“Your hard work and dedication to duties had paid off. I am confident in your abilities to discharge any mandate and overcome any challenges because your patriotism to the Nigerian project is unparalleled,” he added.

Similarly, a leading aspirant for the speakership seat of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, has said that Gbajabiamila would surely provide the support to President Tinubu to reposition Nigeria to achieve greatness.

Abbas in a congratulatory message contended that Gbajabiamila’s appointment is a testament of his pedigree, capacity and competence to handle any national assignment given to him.

The lawmaker, who represents Zaria Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, hailed President Tinubu for making the right choice.

He said Gbajabiamila is bringing to the table two decades of parliamentary experience during which he occupied the positions of Minority Whip, Minority Leader, Majority/House Leader and ultimately the Speaker.

Abbas said Tinubu has once again demonstrated that he is truly a talent hunter and a strategist by appointing Gbajabiamila to be his Chief of Staff.

“I want to appreciate Mr. President for making the right choice in appointing our Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff.

“To me, this is one appointment that has shown that Mr. President is not only strategic in his thinking but also sagacious in his leadership.

“I know that the Chief of Staff to the President will work assiduously with Mr. President to make Nigeria great,” Abbas said.
