The Nigerian Army have handed out heavy defeats to kidnappers.
The army on Thursday said troops of I Division dislodged kidnappers and rescued 30 kidnapped victims along Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State.
Lt Col Musa Yahaya, acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division, NA, in a statement in Kaduna said the troops who were escorting the Chief of Defence Training and Operations, Maj Gen S.E. Udonwa on a visit to Operation Whirl Punch headquarters in Birnin Gwari intercepted bandits kidnapping commuters.
“The troops engaged the bandits and overpowered them forcing the criminal elements to withdraw in disarray. The gallant troops rescued 30 kidnapped victims, recovered 2 motorcycles and immediately cleared the highway for free flow of vehicular traffic, ” he said.
According to him, the rescued victims were escorted to Udawa and Birnin Gwari to continue their journey.
Lt Col Yahaya said the Chief of Defence Training and Operations, Maj Gen SE Udonwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience.
