The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi on Saturday promised to tackle the security challenge being experienced across the country if elected in next month’s presidential election.

Obi, who made the pledge in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital in continuation of his nationwide campaign rallies ahead of the February 25 polls, blamed successive administrations for failing to tackle the challenge while they were in power.

To address insecurity, the former Anambra State governor noted that youth unemployment must be tackled headlong while identifying injustice as part of the reason the fight against insecurity had largely been unsuccessful.

If elected, he promised to restore the glory days Borno State was known for while also assuring farmers of a secured environment to practice their trade.

“Sambisa forest, which the terrorists have used as a base from where they torment this state, will be turned into a farm land to produce.

“Through our consumption to production policy, we will engage the youths, pull people out of poverty and return the state to its original position as the commercial hub of the region,” Obi said.
