Six persons were on Tuesday rescued and others trapped inside a three-storey building that collapsed in Kano on Tuesday.
The collapsed structure, still under construction, is located within the popular GSM market along Beirut Road, by Ibrahim Taiwo Way of Kano metropolis.
The affected building is a three-storey building. Its first and second floors were already been completed and housing traders.
Over 100 persons sell GSM phones in the building, others who sell food, while others just come to take a rest under the shade of the building, it was learnt.
The incident occurred around3:20pm. The labourers were still working on the building when it went down on traders, food vendors and customers at the place.

“Workers, traders and some commuters were reportedly inside the building when it collapsed,” eyewitness said.
The rescue was being carried out by a joint team of Fire Service, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the police, Civil Defense and other paramilitary outfits.
Spokesman for Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf, confirmed that six victims were rescued, with no death as of the filing this report.
“Rescue operation is still ongoing,” he said.
An eyewitness said: “We were standing somewhere away from the building when we heard a loud sound, as the building collapsed and people started running helter skelter.
“So far, three people have been removed alive but injured by the collapsed building.”
