25-Yr-Old Kidnap Kingpin Suspect Gunned Down By Police In Attempt To Escape After Arrest

A 25-year-old kidnap kingpin suspect, Sani Shehu terrorising Pindiga, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State has been shot dead in an attempt to escape after their arrest by the police operatives.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement he signed and posted on the twitter handle of the police on Monday night.

The statement disclosed that, “on the 19/08/2022 at about 1500hrs following credible information received by the Divisional Police Officer of Pindiga Division that,” some suspected kidnappers were planning to strike a target around Pindiga, Akko LGA, two suspects were intercepted.

The suspects, one Sani Shehu, male aged 25 years and Mohammed Sani Adamu aged 23 years also male were intercepted by the police patrol team in collaboration with vigilante and Hunters group at Tudun Kwaya village of Billiri LGA.

It also disclosed that the suspects, who were on their way to their secret rendezvous at Yankari forest at that time, upon interrogation confessed to be members of a kidnapping syndicate terrorising Pindiga, Akko LGA.

According to the statement, the kingpin, Shehu during preliminary investigation, led the operatives to where they hid their weapons.

The statement listed the weapons to include one AK-47 rifle, two magazines loaded with eighteen (18) rounds of live ammunition, one fabricated sterling rifle, a locally made revolver pistol with a pair of Army camouflage uniform were recovered from the forest.

“Later the said Sani Shehu who attempted to escape was hit by a bullet was rushed to General Hospital Kashere where he was certified dead by a medical doctor while receiving treatment. Corpse deposited at the mortuary for autopsy,” the statement reads in part.

Furthermore, the statement said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ishola Babatunde Babaita, has directed that the case be transferred to State CID Gombe for discreet investigation and prosecution.

“The CP further enjoins all peace loving citizens and residents alike in the state to continue to partner and co-operate with the Police by providing useful information on any suspicious individuals or persons in their domain.

“The CP also assures the citizens that all information given shall be treated with utmost confidentiality,” it concluded.

In other news, Kanyi Daily had reported that the Lagos State Police command had arrested a 44-year-old man, Olumide Agboola, said to be notorious for robbing online vendors.

Agboola was nabbed by police operatives attached to Makinde Division of the force.

The police also said it succeeded in arresting him after a painstaking investigation launched following series of reports received about his activities.

The force also said different CCTV footages at his various crime scenes helped in the identification of the suspect.
