There’s no under-20 Nigerian player hotter than Samuel Chukwueze right now. He has pulled so much weight in Villareal that a good number of Premier League clubs are already looking to snatch him up from the La Liga.
This interest has raised the player’s market value, as shown by the latest CIES Observatory study — ranking him as the most valuable under-20 player in Africa.
The football research group conducted a study of the transfer values for under-20 players in Europe’s five major leagues. Out of the 50 players on the table, Chukwueze was ranked as number 12, with an estimated value of €35 million (over 14 billion naira).
This comes just one month after he was nominated for the La Liga ‘Player of the Week’ award. Once the transfer window reopens, the 19-year-old will most likely receive offers from Liverpool and Man City, both of which have reportedly shown interest in him.
Meanwhile, he’s currently torn between playing for the Super Eagles at the 2019 AFCON or the Flying Eagles at the Under-20 World Cup – insisting he won’t do both. We hope he makes the right decision regarding his future club and national team career.
