Simon was however, substituted in the 86th minute after an impressive performance for Osman Bukari.
Sofiane Boufal gave Angers an early lead in the 18th minute to silence the home supporters.
However, Nantes leveled parity in the 53rd minute through Kalifa Coulibaly to secure a vital point for the home team.
The draw means Nantes sit 9th on 47 points while Angers sit 14th on 34 points in Ligue 1 table.
