As the holy month of Ramadan commences, a senatorial candidate from Osun West senatorial District in the last general election, Omooba Dotun Babayemi has urged Islamic faithfuls to use the period to increase their supplication to Almighty Allah and also to seek his favour and forgiveness of sins.
According to him, the essence of Ramadan is to improve on their level of piety and righteousness.
He tasked them to assist the less privileged and also relate peacefully with adherents of other religions in the society.
He said that the purpose of fasting the whole day without eating, drinking and consuming anything until it is the time to break the fast is not just to stay hungry or thirsty, but an opportunity for Muslims to benefit from this practice as it teaches patience as well as abstaining from iniquities.
Omooba Babayemi admonished adherents of Islam to take full advantage of the blessed month to rededicate themselves to helping the less privileged in the society the more.
Omooba Babayemi lauds the unique and concerted role women play during Ramadan and prays Allah to strengthen them to enable them withstand the rigour.
While wishing muslims in Osun West Senatorial District in particular, Osun state in general and Nigeria as a whole Ramadan Kareem, he called for renewed interfaith understanding between Muslims and adherents of other faiths to promote tolerance, unity, harmony and accelerated national growth.
