PDP latest from in that now wants to rule Nigeria in 2023 has got his first slap with the truth of how the main opposition party runs.

The PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu told Dele Momodu on Thursday the party’s leaders won’t support his presidential ambition.

“You have to go out and work out there among the party members across the country, because the party leadership will not do it for you,” Ayu said.

The Ovation magazine publisher is a carpet-bagger in his new party, and he has no following or structure as a politician, even from his former party—LP. Except those who read his ThisDay column and follow him on social media.

The National Daily reported Momodu’s defection last year and his declaration on Thursday.

How he hopes to wing it during the PDP presidential primary is not clear yet, especially when he’s competing with PDP veterans like ex-V.P Atiku Abubakar, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal, and Bukola Saraki

“For you to run for office, you must have a strong platform, but the first responsibility I will charge you to do is to work hard and build a strong party with which we can go into battle with,” Ayu said when Momodu came declaring for the presidency.

“For your personal ambition like all other candidates, I wish you well, I wish you the best.

Ayu assured him of a level playing ground for all aspirants, and the party members will decide who will contest any office.

“If at the end of the day, party members vote for you, PDP will stand behind you,” he said.
