Flying Eagles head coach Paul Aigbogun says the team is now firmly focused on securing the third position at the 2019 U -20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niamey after their semi-final loss to Mali, reports Completesports.com.

The seven-time champions agonisingly lost 4-3 on penalties to the Malians in the last four encounter on Wednesday after the game ended in a 1-1 draw following 120 minutes of action.

The West Africans will take on the Amajita of South Africa in the third-place place match today (Saturday ) at the Seyni Kountche Stadium, Niamey.

Both teams will be meeting for the second time in Niamey after canceling out each other 0-0 in the group stage of the tournament. And Aigbogun is confident his wards are raring to go.

The South Africans put up a resolute performance in that game to earn a share of the spoils. It was the only game the Flying Eagles failed to register a goal in the competition.

Aigbogun is hopeful his boys will get the job done this time around and ensure a positive end to the competition for them.

“We’ve forgotten about the semi-final game and now our focus is on the third place match, to finish the tournament which has been great for us,” Aigbogun told reporters.

The Saturday’s Third-Place game will kick-off at 4.30pm Nigeria time.
