According to report, the Presidency is set to extend the stay of President Muhammadu Buhari who has being in the United Kingdom since 30th of March. This development is linked with the protests at the Nigerian Mission House in London.

Although the Presidency did not give a particular date about the President’s return, the Presidency through Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity had said the President would be back in the second week of April 2021

President Buhari did not formally hand over power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo when he left, he has been informed to keep acting in the capacity until the extension is worked out by the Presidency.

The protests at the Nigerian Mission House has reportedly affected the movement of the President and it has not enabled him to go to places he would like to go in London.

“Buhari did not hand over to the VP but he told him to keep acting. As it stands now, he will extend his stay in London from what we are hearing. The protest by #Revolutionnow has hampered his abilities to go around London. An extension is now in the offing,” a top official disclosed

Since assuming office in 2015, President Buhari has spent over 193 days on medical leave in the UK

President’s Buhari’s current medical trip was announced at a time in which the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) embarked on strike over government’s failure to meet it’s demands including non payment of allowances.

This current medical trip is the President’s eight trip. In 2016, Buhari spent 19 days in London, 155 days in 2017, 4 days in 2018 and 10 days in 2019. He could not travel in 2020 due to the Coronavirus travel restrictions.
