Godwin Akwaji, the lawmaker representing Obudu constituency at the Cross River state house of assembly has passed on at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) isolation centre after showing coronavirus symptoms
Akwaji died at about 12:30 pm on Thursday June 18, he was diabetic and also exhibited fatigue, fever, cough and breathlessness. Prior to his death, the lawmaker was treated for malaria and pneumonia with no improvement.
The Cable reported that some persons who visited the lawmaker at the hospital are already showing symptoms of COVID-19.
Till now, Cross River State is the only Nigerian state yet to declare a confirmed case of Coronavirus.
