Awoniyi Thanks Mainz Medics, Team-mates After Recovery From Concussion

Mainz forward Taiwo Awoniyi has thanked the club’s medical staff and his team-mates for their support following his recovery from the concussion he suffered in Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to Augsburg, Completesports.com reports.

Awoniyi was taken off the pitch barely 20 minutes into the game after being knocked out cold following a collision with Augsburg’s Felix Uduokhai.

The 22-year-old was later stretchered off the pitch and taken to hospital.

The Nigeria striker spent the night in hospital as a precautionary measure.

Awoniyi, who is loan at Mainz from European champions Liverpool has scored once in 12 league appearances for the club this season.
