‘We’ll invite IPOB members to protect us, secure our properties in Lagos,’ Igbo leader threatens residents (Video)

The Eze Igbo, Ajao Estate, Lagos state, Fredrick Nwajagu, has vowed to invite members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to the state to secure properties of Igbo people within the state.

Nwajagu, while speaking in a video clip on Friday, March 31, said that the move became necessary in the wake of attacks on some Igbo people in the state.

The Igbo leader noted that his people must have a stand in Lagos state.

Nwajagu said that, “We will invite IPOB members to Lagos state. They have no job.

“All the IPOB members will be invited to protect us and secure our properties in Lagos, and we have to pay them.

“We have to mobilize them for this purpose. We have to do that.

“We must have our own security so that some people will stop attacking us in the midnight, morning, afternoon.

“When they discover that we have our own security, before they come, they will know that we have our own men there.

“I am not hiding my face and I’m not taking my words back. Let my words go viral.

“Igbo must get their rights in Lagos state,” he added.

Meanwhile, the state police public relations officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, while reacting to the development, said that the command would resist IPOB presence in the state.

Hundeyin tweeted that, “To start with, the ever-ready @LagosPoliceNG will never fold its arms and allow such within the state.”

Recall that there has been a frosty relationship between Igbo and Yoruba ethnic groups in the state since the buildup to the 2023 general elections.

The situation degenerated after the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, defeated his counterpart in the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, in the state during the presidential poll.

Also, Igbo voters in the state complained of being intimidated during the March 18 governorship election, adding that many of them were prevented from exercising their rights.
