General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo has explained why he is optimistic about Black Stars’ chances of winning next year’s AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Black Stars are one match away from securing qualification to play at the 2023 AFCON.
Chris Hughton side must avoid defeat at home to Central Africa Republic in the next round of qualifiers in September to seal the ticket.
The four-time AFCON winners top Group E with one-point advantage over Angola.
According to Addo, the weather in Ivory Coast will favour the Black Stars to emerge champions.
“The weather and everything [in Ivory Coast] suits us, so we’re hoping to qualify and go and win the cup,” Addo said in an interview with Asempa FM.
The last time the Black Stars were crowned African champions was at the 1982 edition in Libya.
Since the 1982 edition, the Black Stars have finished runners-up in 1992, 2010 and 2015.
