Brazil’s health Minister Nelson Teich has resigned following a disagreement over the Government’s measures in handling the covid19 pandemic in the country.

Mr Teich is said to have disagreed with President Bolsonaro to use Chloroquine to treat the virus , even as the world health organisation WHO had said there was no actual evidence that the drug works.

The health Minister in a press statement last week also stated that he was not consulted ahead of the presidents order to open up certain sectors of the economy like gyms, beauty salons e.t.c. Which was considered an embarrassment to the Minister by the public.

The official reason for the resignation of the Minister is yet to be revealed as he is the second health minister to exit office in less than a month after his predecessor Luiz Mandetta was fired by President Jair Bolsonaro on the 16th of April after a disagreement over social isolation measures.

Brazil on Thursday was reported to have recorded 844 deaths in 24 hours on Thursday 14th of May. It has been recorded as the worlds sixth most affected country with over 202,918 cases.

The country has recorded nearly 14,000 deaths surpassing death toll in Germany.
