In a solidarity march earlier today, PDP youths trooped out in their numbers to protest at the unity fountain in Abuja and also submitted inquest to the DSS,UK and US embassies over the abduction of a PDP youth leader, Dadiyata.
Many Nigerians have been airing their displeasure on the state of insecurity and incessant assault on the rights of citizens to speak freely in Nigeria.
Led by the head, New Media, Barrister Anthony Ehilebo and notable PDP leaders, the peaceful protest commenced from the famous unity fountain to the embassies of UK and US while also making a stop at the DSS headquarters to submit their petition.

The New Media Team of the Peoples’ Democratic Party hereby writes to demand for information on the whereabouts and condition of Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Abu Hanifa Dadiyata. Mr. Idris is a a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State public affairs analyst and social activist based in Kaduna who was abducted from his home on Thursday, August 8, 2019.
Reports have alleged that officers of the Nigerian Department of State Services were involved in this abduction. We therefore demand that the DSS High Command clear the air as to their involvement with the abduction and take immediate steps to ensure Dadiyata is freed from his abductors.
Dadiyata is a vocal member of society and he is known for holding government accountable. He has not been accused of any crime and his rights to free speech and free hearing still stand as guaranteed by the 1999 Nigerian Consititution . He ought to have been charged to court within 48 hours of his arrest but this has not been done and there has been no contact with him since he was abducted. Our call right now is Where is Dadiyata?
This abduction, the subsequent silence on it and the absence of a response to various demands for answers is indicative of an attack on the civil freedoms that exist for citizens of Nigeria. It also indicates a disregard for the wishes and welfare of the citizens whom the government is called to serve and protect.
No citizen should be stopped from exercising their right to free speech. This abduction of Dadiyata directly counters this right as guaranteed by the constitution and we ask that he be immediately released and the process of rule of law followed.
