The NLC had informed its members across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to rally against the challenges confronting civil servants in Nigeria

Recall that the NLC and the Trade Union Congress issued a 14-day nationwide strike notice to the Federal Government on February 8 over the failure to implement agreements reached on October 2 following the removal of fuel subsidy.

However, with Nigerians still grappling with economic hardship, the union decided to embark on a two-day nationwide protest to press their demands

Despite security advisories from the Department of State Services (DSS), the union kick-started the protest in many cities across the country.

Angry Nigerians and workers were observed streaming into the Labour House accompanied by security personnel during the early hours of Tuesday.

Kanyi Daily recalls that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) remains steadfast in its decision to proceed with the planned protests on Tuesday and Wednesday, highlighting the growing concerns over “mounting hunger and insecurity” in Nigeria.
