A woman simply identified as Abigail who stabbed a 12-year-old girl, Oluebube and left the knife in her body in Rumuodara in Ohio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State on Saturday, June 17 has been arrested by the police.
According to Oluchi, the sister of the victim, the 30-year-old suspect carried out the act because her sister mistakenly hit her with water in their corridor.
“My sister was washing plates outside. The woman (Abigail) went and fetched water. Because our corridor is dark, the person inside can see somebody outside, but the person outside cannot see the person inside.
The woman stood there with her water, but she did not tell my sister not to come with the pot to avoid running into her. So my sister, unknowingly, entered with the pot and ran into the woman, and both of them fell. The woman now started beating my sister. Other neighbours started begging the woman that it was a mistake, but the woman refused.” she said
She stated that things degenrated between them to the extent the suspect went inside her apartment, came out with a knife which she used to stab her sister. She said the head of the knife broke and the knife stayed in her sister’s body..
She said the suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by her neighbors and handed over to the police.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the police command, SP Grace Iringe-koko, said the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctors successfully removed the knife from the injured girl’s body. She added that the suspect who is now in police custody will be arraigned in court soon.
