The minister of information, has accused Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the February 25 election, of failing to correct Datti Baba-Ahmed, his running mate, over his controversial comments.
Speaking with state house correspondents on Wednesday, April 19, Alhaji Mohammed said nobody has the right to call for insurrection in the country, The Cable reported.

According to him, it is treason for Obi and Datti to be threatening that if the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is sworn in on May 29, it will be the end of democracy in Nigeria. But Obi and the Labour Party have since debunked the allegation, Daily Trust report added.

“I said Obi has every right to seek redress in court like Labour Party but nobody has the right to call for insurrection or to threaten to say that if the president-elect is sworn-in, that would be the end of democracy,” Lai said.

Peter Obi’s comment on liberating northern Nigeria out of poverty has continued to generate reactions online as the majority of Arewa people considered the comment as a deliberate slap on the people of the region.
Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party who came third in the February 25 presidential election, in a series of tweets on Tuesday, April 18, said he was on a mission to reclaim his alleged stolen mandate.
He further went on to say:
“I am committed to lifting people out of poverty, and I remain committed to transforming Nigeria, starting from the North to every part of the nation.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that Peter Obi of the Labour Party has said that humans are bound to make mistakes, and he would never intentionally break the law.
Although Obi did not reveal what led to his veiled statement, he reiterated his commitment to fighting for a new Nigeria.
Recall that the former governor of Anambra was accused of treason by the opposition because of his post-election activities, while his running mate was accused of fascism.
