Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on his co-contestants in the just-concluded governorship election in which he emerged victorious to join hands with him to move the state to greater heights.

Makinde, who described his electoral success as a victory for the people of the state, added that he is open to working with the ideas of his co-contestants wherever they are found to be superior to his.

According to him, everyone must now come together in the interest of Oyo State.

The governor, who spoke at a programme on Fresh 105.9 FM, promised to reach more people with development and as well continue to deliver quality projects in all sectors of the state.

He added that he would also go ahead to put the sticky points learnt during the campaign period into practice, just as he would continue the task of vigorously developing the state as done since he took office in 2019.

Besides, Makinde appreciated all residents of the state, including elder statesmen and women, businessmen, labour unions, market associations and religious bodies for standing by him before, during and after the election.

He, however, said that his administration would reach more areas with development during his second term in office.

He maintained that the recruitment of teachers and other non-teaching staff, as well as building more education infrastructure, would receive major priority under Omituntun 2.0.

MEANWHILE, the candidate of Accord Party (AP) in the just-concluded election, Adebayo Adelabu, has hinted of his plan to return to his former party, All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said that people were already expressing preference for him come 2027.

Adelabu made the declaration in his appreciation letter to his supporters.

He said: “Exactly one week after the 2023 gubernatorial election, I believe we must have all been well rested and digested the reality of the results of that election.

“My appreciation goes to all the hardworking and committed members of our great party for a well fought battle in the last eight months. I cannot thank you enough for all your efforts, prayers and commitment of all your financial and other resources during our campaigns leading to last weekend elections.

“I want to assure you that discussions will soon start among our leaders immediately after Ramadan on the modalities of managing our party and the possibility of a return to APC.”

It’s not something to rush, as it must be a calculated move with a joint agreement on the purpose and modalities of our return. One thing that must be clear with everyone is that it is only in unity that we can remain formidable. I implore our members not to rush into taking a decision on whether to remain in Accord Party or return to APC. Let’s exercise a little patience and wait for the overall decision of our leaders, which I can assure you will be in the interest of all.”
