For gross anti-party activities and corruption in the management of party funds, the National Working Committee of the Labour Party (LP) has dissolved the State Executive Council of Rivers State with immediate effect.

This decision was taken at an emergency meeting held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, on Tuesday, March 7, Vanguard reported.

Why the EXCOs were sacked

The LP national chairman, Julius Abure who signed the statement announcing the decision of the NWC, said,

“Those who were at the helm of affairs in the State when its presidential mandate was openly stolen, should step aside until full investigation on what happened on that day is completed.”

Labour Party, Obidient Movement, Endorse PDP Governorship Candidate

The Labour Party (LP) and the Obidient Movement in Rivers state have declared their support and endorsed Sim Fubara, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 11 governorship election in the state.

Dienye Pepple, the chairman of the Labour Party in the state, stated that they made the decision in the interest of fairness, balance and equity in the state.

Other supporters of the Labour Party who joined Pepple in endorsing Fubara in Port Harcourt, the River state, explained that the Southeast senatorial district, where Fubara came from, was yet to produce the first governor in the state.

Eunice Atuejide, Labour Party Candidate, Apapa Federal Constituency, has maintained that the party’s governorship candidate will emerge victorious in the Saturday, March 11, 2023 election.

In an interview with Legit.ng on Monday, March 6, Atuejide disclosed that Lagosians are totally Obidients, and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV) of the Labour Party is flying Peter Obi’s flag in Lagos, as such, he will emerge victorious.

Speaking further, she noted that the feat recorded by Peter Obi in the just concluded presidential election in Lagos state would be replicated by GRV during Saturday’s poll.
