Bode George, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed on Monday that there is a plot by unidentified persons to assassinate the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, prior to the upcoming election on Saturday.
George cited the unsolved murder of Funsho Williams, a prominent politician and gubernatorial aspirant who was assassinated at his home in Ikoyi before the 2007 elections, during a press conference in Lagos.
George, who heads the Omo Eko Pataki group, disclosed that they had uncovered the heinous plan to prevent a recurrence of the tragic incident. He emphasized that protecting others is essential in life and warned that if anything happens to Rhodes-Vivour, Nigerians should know who is responsible.
The increasing popularity of Rhodes-Vivour, who is seen as a threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State after the Labour Party’s performance in the recent presidential election, has reportedly unsettled some of the APC’s staunch supporters in the state who are determined to keep the country’s commercial capital under their party’s control.
