
• Redeploys Ondo, Ekiti Passport Comptrollers
To ease difficulties in obtaining passport booklets in the country, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Isa Idris, has given approval for Nigerian passport offices across the country to open on Saturdays.
A communiqué issued by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Comptroller Tony Akuneme, noted that the “action is expected to enable more people access the document and clear backlog occasioned by the 2020 and 2021 lockdown due to the COVID-19.”
Also, the Idris approved the immediate redeployment of two passport comptrollers, in Ondo and Ekiti states, as part of efforts to sanitise by the system and improve the process of passport issuance across the country.
The communiqué read: “Mr. Idris has resolved to leave no stone unturned, in the desire to make passport services available and stress-free to the travelling public.”
