Students, under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have gathered at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos state, to protest against the prolonged strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The students gathered at the airport on Monday morning, September 19, amid heavy security presence.

It was earlier reported that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) had vowed to ground activities at the local and international airports across the country beginning from Monday, September 18, over the lingering strike.

The protesting students were seen dancing around as they sang solidarity songs, according to The Vanguard.

The South-West coordinator of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Adegboye Olatunji, said that security agencies had been mobilised to the scene, but the protesting students were undaunted.

“Yeah, they mobilised heavy security, but we’re undaunted,” Adegboye said.

Recall that the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had on February 14, 2022, embarked on the industrial action due to the failure of the federal government to yield to their demands.
