The president is scheduled to attend the United Nations General Assembly, an annual gathering of world leaders (UNGA77).
His media assistant, Mr. Femi Adesina, announced in Abuja on Saturday that he would speak at the UNGA on September 21.
The Nigeria International Economic Partnership Forum (NIEPF) is one of the high-level meetings and side events the president would attend in addition to his National Statement, he said.
Nigeria and the Business Council for International Understanding collaborate to host the forum.
Adesina added that the president would also participate in the EFCC-NEPAD program on combating illicit financial flows.
“President Buhari will also hold strategic bilateral meetings with world leaders, renowned investors, and heads of multinational organizations while in New York,’’ he added.
The 77th session’s opening theme is “A watershed moment: Transformative solutions to interconnected challenges.” It began on Tuesday, September 13.
The conflict in Ukraine, the global energy crisis, climate change, and containing the COVID-19 pandemic are among the major issues that will be discuss during this year’s UNGA.
A special conference on changing education will also be held by the UNGA.
The president is expected to return to the nation on Monday, September 26.
