The Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor has confirmed the arrest of those behind the attack on a Catholic church at Owo, Ondo, on June 5.
He made this known during a meeting with editors and media executives in Abuja on Tuesday.
Irabor said the suspects would be paraded at the end of the investigation.
Two of them—Idri Ojo, 39, and Jimoh Ibrahim, 32—are top commanders of ISWAP in Nigeria.
Irabor said Ojo was arrested at Ayetoro, Ondo State on Sunday, August 7 along with his other commanders, while planning another attack before intelligence reports identified his location and he was subsequently arrested in the operation.
They are Idris Abdul Malik Omeiza, Momoh Ojowu Abu, Aliyu Yusuf and Auwal Onimisi.
“It was my intention to present them to the public, but because of the investigation still going on, I had to change my mind. I will like to say that in due course, the world will see them and others who are behind other daring attacks in the country,” he said.
Ondo Gov Rotimi Akereedolu earlier dismissed the federal government claim ISWAP was responsible following the attacks.
Akeredolu said the federal government response was too fast, stating some kind of trilogy—herdsmen, bandits, terrorists—creating insecurity in Ondo
