Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State and a presidential candidate on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, has stated that the race for the party’s ticket in 2023 is “payback time” for those who have been loyal and consistent with the party.
,
Wike rebuffed efforts to find a consensus candidate for the party’s presidential nomination.

The Rivers State Governor made the remarks while speaking to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday, warning the party’s leadership not to offer the party’s presidential ticket to individuals who failed to win their states for the PDP in past elections.

He also reminded the party NWC that they removed former PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus led NWC to install the incumbent Dr Iyorchia Ayu led NWC.

He was accompanied by PDP chieftains including Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, former governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo, erstwhile governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose and ex-Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke, among others.
