IGP orders dismissal of 9 police officers over unsuccessful planned strike

The Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba, in a signal endorsed by the Commissioner of Police Provost, Force Headquarters, Abuja, ordered immediate dismissal nine police officers from the Nigerian Police force for involvement in the unsuccessful planned national strike by rank and file of the police. The police authorities said that the affected nine officers include two Inspectors, five Sergeants and two Constables, identified as AP/No. 245800 – Inspector Nanoll Lamak;
AP/ NP 287568 – Inspector Amos Nagurah; F/No. 271367 – Sergeant Onoja Onuche; F/No. 442680 – Sergeant Franklin Agughalau; and F/No. 495378 – Sergeant Emmanuel Isah. Others are F/No. 508168 – Sergeant Adesina Ismail; F/No. 508282 – Sergeant Osoteku Ademola; F/No. 525839 – Police Constable Ehighamhen Favour Ebele and F/No. 528222 and Police Constable Ubong Inem.

The officers were said to be tracked through their telephone calls and conversations on the plans and instigation for the strike.

The signal from the Commissioner of Police Provost, Force Headquarters Abuja, indicated that officers were dismissed after the conclusion of their orderly room trial for Offenses of Confidence to wit Planning, Organising, Coordinating Industrial Strike within the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force.

The IGP has directed the Commissioners of Police in commands and formations to caution the affected personnel, accordingly, dekit and eject them from official accommodation and facilities where applicable.

There was strong insinuation two weeks ago of plans by Police officers to go on strike across the country over welfare issues.
