President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians of his determination to deliver major projects before he hands over power to his successor in 2023.

The Senior Special Assistant to President in Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, speaking on Channels Television on Friday, affirmed that the major preoccupation of President Muhammadu Buhari is to complete major projects in the country before he quits office in 2023.

According to Garba Shehu, “The President is determined to make the last push for major policies, infrastructure, and projects that he believes must be delivered before he leaves.

“All of these are matters of priority and he is seeking to commission them before he leaves.

“He is not going to write the script for 2023; he is not a kingmaker; he is focused on his job.

“The actors in the field are there competing and scrambling for offices. It is up to Nigerians to determine who will lead them. I think the president is determined to ride on the AbujaKaduna Road back home when he finishes in 2023.”

Garba Shehu identified some of the projects to include the Second Niger Bridge; LagosIbadan Expressway; East-West Road; Calabar-Lagos railway; MaiduguriPort Harcourt railway and Ibadan-Port Harcourt rail line. He maintained that President Buhari is “committed to leaving a lasting legacy and not on choosing his successor.” He dissociated the President from engaging in determining who succeeds him in 2023, following recent insinuations that President Buhari was holding secret meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan at the State House, Abuja, on the 2023 presidential election.
