INEC pasts election notice in Ekiti, releases schedule of activities

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has pasted the “Notice of Election” for the Ekiti State Governorship Election which will hold in June this year on its notice board.

This is in accordance with the Timetable and Schedule of Activities issued last year.

In the notice, collection of forms EC9 and EC9B for the election by political parties commences Tuesday, January 4, 2022, while conduct of party primaries including resolution of disputes arising from the primaries is now between 4th and 29th of January, 2022.

Submission of EC9 and EC9B will close by 4th of February, 2022, not later than 60 days before the election as stipulated by the laws regulating the election.

Also in the notice, February 25th has been fixed as the deadline for withdrawal of candidates or replacement by political parties, while March 11th is the last day for submission of nomination forms (EC13B) by political parties.

Commencement of campaign by political parties March 20th, while publication of official register of voters for the election by INEC is fixed for May 19th as well as the publication of final list of candidates for the election.

INEC also stated in the list that by June 3rd, it will publish the notice of poll, also the same day will be the last day for submission of names of polling agents for the election to the electoral officer of the local government area by political parties.

In the details posted on its official website, the INEC has also fixed January 4 to 29 and February 16 to March 12, 2022 for political parties in Ekiti and Osun respectively, to conduct their primaries and resolve disputes that may arise from them while other election activities can follow.
