Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has ordered all of her employees to go on indefinite leave amid rumors that she is pregnant.

Mohammed Kamal, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Health and Development Partners in the First Lady’s office, acknowledged this in a statement on Tuesday.

Pictures of Buhari, 79, and Aisha, 50, taken in Turkey between December 16 and 19, 2021, fueled pregnancy rumors because she was seen cradling what appeared to be a bump.

However, Aisha’s media aide, Sulaiman Haruna, denied such rumors.

In the statement, Kamal stated that the First Lady had instructed her office workers to take an indefinite leave of absence and work remotely.

“This serves to inform all members of staff that the office of the First Lady will be closed for the upcoming festive period of Christmas and New Year.

“To this end, all staff members are requested to proceed on leave, until further notice.

“Please note that official engagements and work can also continue virtually as it was done previously.

“Her Excellency appreciates and thanks all staff members for their commitment and hard work and wishes all a happy festive period ahead,” the statement, posted on the verified Instagram handle of the President’s wife, read.
