A former governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, has expressed sadness over the demise of the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu, who passed on Sunday after a brief illness.

In a statement made available to DAILY POST by his media aide, Azeez Adelani, on Wednesday, Akinlade commiserated with the people of Owu, describing the late Oba as a figure who projected Egba culture to the world and represented the kingdom well with an ingenious leadership style and guiding wisdom.

The former lawmaker noted that Owu will forever miss the monarch’s sincere counsel, fatherly and royal mentorship.

He said, “Kabiyesi was kind with a sharp and dauntless wit as he took bold steps in advancing several initiatives, which will naturally outlive him. From sterling records in the public service, private sector and politics, he led with passion and ensured a greater engagement with the world living up to the apalage that; indeed, ‘Owu Lakoda, Owu Lasiwaju’.

“Kabiyesi was a revered leader, who had the courage of his convictions, and as the entire nation mourns Kabiyesi Amororo’s loss, I send my warmest wishes and deepest condolences to the Queens, families, palace, associates, Owu Kingdom and Egba nation as a whole.”

Also, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olumide Aderinokun, during a visit to the family of the late Olowu, described his loss as a national tragedy at a time the country needs elders to foster peace, unity and security.

Aderinokun, who was recently installed as the Akinruyiwa of Owu, paid tribute to the Olowu for his fatherly role to him and the indigenes, and “for taking Owu Kingdom to the next level with key developments.”

He recalled the impacts made by Oba Dosunmu as a movie producer and when he ascended the throne with his leadership role and influence in the public sector.

While appreciating God for the fulfilled and good life of the first-class King, Aderinokun prayed that the Lord grant the family, the people of Owu and Ogun State the fortitude to bear the loss.
