The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Wednesday redeployed the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, to the Force Headquarters and replaced him with Bartholomew Onyeka.
Egbuka’s redeployment, it was learnt, was not unconnected with the crisis rocking the Plateau State House of Assembly whose speaker, Abok Ayuba, was reportedly impeached and replaced by Yakubu Sanda.
Force spokesman, Frank Mba, in a statement, said the Force was poised to provide effective policing in Plateau and across the country.
He said Onyeka’s appointment took immediate effect.
The statement read in part: “The IGP, while assuring the people of Plateau State of the unrelenting commitment of the Police leadership to containing prevailing and emerging crimes in the state, charged the new Commissioner of Police to deploy his community building experience in ensuring improved public safety and security of lives and property of the citizenry in the State.
“He enjoined the people of Plateau State to continuously work with the Police for effective policing of their communities.”
