The Mahatma Gandhi Peace Foundation Nepal has advised Nigerians to accept the recipe for peace and security suggested by former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai

Buratai had on Friday delivered the Pre-convocation lecture of the Modibbo Adama University (MAU) Yola, asking all Nigerians to unite against insurgents and regard the anti-insurgency war as something everyone should get involved in and play their part rather than leave everything to the military.

The former army chief, who is now Nigeria’s ambassador to Benin Republic, had also in the lecture recommended appreciable investment in human capital development to tackle widespread poverty among Nigerians and weaken the tendency for insurgency to thrive.

Reacting to Buratai’s lecture, the Country Director of the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Foundation Nepal, Richard Oduma praised the ambassador for continuing to demonstrate commitment to issues facing the country.

Richard said, “For a man who served all his life in the military and who in fact pioneered the most successful military feats against insurgency to avail himself for yet another national service deserves some commendation.”

“For us at the Ghandi Peace Foundation, peace and development remains our concern. Amb Buratai’s desire to put forward his military and diplomatic experience for use is highly commendable,” Richard said.

Adding that nations are built through tapping from the best of patriots, Richard said his foundation wished that all stakeholders will yield to good counsel as offered by Buratai and contribute their quota to achieve the desired development.
