President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated that his administration will not rest until the present security challenges in Nigeria are adequately tackled.
Buhari, represented by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonayan Onu, said this in Abuja during the public presentation of a book- “Standing Strong”. The book was written by former Senate President, Ken Nnamani.
“We are consequently reviewing our strategies to continuously degrade the capabilities of all criminal elements in the country,” he said.
According to President Buhari, adequate resources had been deployed to strengthen the capabilities of the military.
He commended the Nigerian armed forces and other security agencies for their efforts in combating crime in the country.
Nigeria is faced with an unprecedented wave of different but overlapping security crises – from kidnapping to extremist insurgencies – almost every corner of the country has been hit by violence and crime.
When President Buhari was elected in 2015, he promised to protect citizens from terrorists and criminals. But there are less than two years left of his final term in office and the country is more unstable than it’s been in decades.
