Atika Abubakar Yankaba was temporarily handed over Kano governance on Monday as part of activities marking the 2021 International Day of the Girl Child (IDGC).

The 14-year-old girl was mandated to serve as acting Governor of Kano for one hour, and she anticipated to make policy pronouncements.

The epic ceremony tagged “Girls Take over Governance” was facilitated by UNICEF in concert with Donor partners, Civil Society Group in the state.

KanyiDaily had also reported how a 16-year-old pupil of Angus Memorial Senior High School, Jemimah Marcus, became the governor of Lagos State for one-day after she won the state’s Spelling Bee competition.
